See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (9/21), in Virginia we’re at 141,138 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 10,613 hospitalizations and 3,021 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 627 (+0.4%) in the latest statistics, which is a slower rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 856 (+0.6%). Also note that this is the slowest daily rate of increase in cases so far during the pandemic. The number of TOTAL test results was 2,040,457 (up 17,190 from yesterday), which is well below what we need, according to researchers at Harvard that would be 22,422/day for mitigation, 81,741/day for suppression). As for hospitalizations, they went up 22 (+0.2%), which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 29 (+0.3%), and one of the slowest rates of growth so far during the pandemic.  Deaths are reported +6, compared to +25 the previous day
