TODAY: A Second Scott Taylor Campaign Staffer Stands Trial For Election Fraud
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Today, a second Scott Taylor campaign staffer stands trial in connection with the ongoing investigation into his campaign’s election fraud scandal. Roberta Marciano, formerly Scott Taylor’s regional field director, was recently indicted on two counts of election fraud for her role in the Scott Taylor campaign’s scheme to get a third party candidate Shaun Brown on the ballot with fraudulent signatures in the 2018 election.
“As Assistant Commonwealth Attorney John Beamer confirmed, this investigation is ongoing and more indictments are likely,” said Campaign Manager Veronica Ingham. “Today’s trial will make clear: Scott Taylor is under investigation and unfit for office.”
The first Scott Taylor campaign staffer indicted for election fraud pled guilty and received a suspended sentence and hefty fine. Shortly after, a second staffer was indicted on similar charges. This second staffer now stands trial today in Virginia Beach.
Two weeks ago, a third Scott Taylor staffer was indicted, and the Assistant Commonwealth Attorney John Beamer stated that the two-year investigation isn’t over yet and that he expects to see at least one more indictment. He said that no one has been cleared, including Taylor: “He’s part of the campaign and the whole campaign is under investigation,” Beamer said
Scott Taylor has now been under investigation longer than he served in Congress.
