Congresswoman Elaine Luria’s Campaign Launches New Television Ad Entitled “Letters”

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Today, Congresswoman Elaine Luria’s campaign announced their newest ad focusing on Congresswoman Luria’s exceptional constituent services. Of the thousands of letters Congresswoman Luria has personally written to constituents, several chose to share their story with the campaign and what it meant to them.

“The letter I received from Ms. Elaine Luria meant a lot to me because it was caring, thoughtful and a sincere appreciation during this unprecedented volatile time of COVID-19 in New York where tremendous people’s lives where lost and I was there to help assist the medical staff, patients essentially the community at such high risk of uncertainty and risking my life to save others.” said Cindy Stokes, a nurse from Virginia Beach who traveled to New York City to help treat patients during the peak of the Pandemic

“Being able to congratulate a constituent on a major milestone, answer a question or fulfill a request, assist in cutting through the red tape, recognize an outstanding contribution to our community, or convey sympathy on behalf of a grateful nation is an obligation I take seriously,” said Congresswoman Luria.

“The letter was special to me and my family because my daughter Jymyra has autism. The Boys and Girls Club was an opportunity for her to do great things in her life and as well as the community,” said Jymyra’s mother April Ridley. “Jymyra was nominated Youth of the Year and out of the entire population, Representative Elaine Luria acknowledged my daughter and her hard work.  That was an awesome surprise and let me know people like her care.”

“Elaine’s letter was a thoughtful reminder of what it is like to be represented by someone who truly cares about her constituents and wants to celebrate in their joys. My fiancé and I were very touched to know that we were on her mind,” said Lindsey Nathaniel, a Virginia Beach resident and local activist who got married last year.

“The environment is my passion, and I admire all the endless work Congresswoman Elaine Luria has done for our area, especially the Chesapeake Bay.  It means so much that she would take the time to acknowledge my accomplishment of becoming an Eagle Scout by writing me a letter. This shows me that not only does she care about the issues, she cares about every person.” Said Austin Doyle, a local William and Mary Freshman and Eagle Scout.

Congresswoman Elaine Luria represents Virginia’s Second Congressional District, which includes all of Accomack and Northampton Counties, the cities of Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, as well as portions of Norfolk City, Hampton, and York and James City Counties. Congresswoman Luria serves on the House Armed Services Committee where she is Vice-Chair of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee and on the House Veterans Affairs Committee where she is the Chair of the Disability and Memorial Assistance Subcommittee. Congresswoman Luria was recently named one of the most effective members of Congress by a 2019 GovTrack Report Card, passing the third most laws of any Representative in the U.S House.
