Elaine for Congress Launches Television Advertisement “Unbelievable” Focused on Scott Taylor’s Lack of Precaution During the COVID-19 Pandemic 

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA –  Today, the Elaine for Congress Campaign launched their most recent advertisement focusing on Scott Taylor’s lack of precaution and compassion for public health guidance during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  

“While Virginians suffered from COVID-19 and cases soared in Hampton Roads, Scott Taylor continued to host large in-person political events without proper PPE,” stated Campaign Manager Veronica Ingham. “Once again, Scott Taylor put himself before the best interests of Coastal Virginians, putting countless lives at risk.”  

Like President Trump, Scott Taylor has compared COVID-19 to the flu, even though the scientific community has consistently refuted this repeatedly. In fact, more people have died from COVID-19 than the past five flu seasons combined. 

Scott Taylor’s complete disregard for public health began with him dismissing the seriousness COVID-19 even going as far as holding a primary night victory party that disregarded any social distancing guidelines. Taylor also attended the Trump rally in Newport News just days before the President’s COVID diagnosis which Virginia Department of Health officials warned could be a superspreader event of the virus.

When asked about the steps taken to slow the spread of COVID-19 during stay at home measures, Taylor stated in an August 24 radio interview that it was “un-American” for “unelected bureaucrats” like Dr. Anthony Fauci to make decisions and that the President shouldn’t run a country on just what one scientist says.

Congresswoman Elaine Luria represents Virginia’s Second Congressional District, which includes all of Accomack and Northampton Counties, the cities of Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, as well as portions of Norfolk City, Hampton, and York and James City Counties. Congresswoman Luria serves on the House Armed Services Committee where she is Vice-Chair of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee and on the House Veterans Affairs Committee where she is the Chair of the Disability and Memorial Assistance Subcommittee. In 2018, Elaine Luria flipped VA-02 from a Republican incumbent and is a current Frontline incumbent.
