Major Problems with Virginia Government Websites – DMV, Online Voter Registration, Dept. of Health, etc. – This Morning

UPDATE 1:51 pm:

These outages (at the Virginia Dept. of Motor Vehicles, online voter registration system, Dept. of Health, Dept. of Transportation, Virginia Employment Commission…) this morning are a reminder that many important Virginia government systems have been underfunded for years, by a Republican-controlled legislature. Although, of course, it’s possible that something else is going on with the sites. Also, given that Virginia’s online voter registration system has been offline for a good chunk of the morning so far, the voter registration deadline should be extended past today!

P.S. According to Fairfax Democrat Chris Ambrose, “Last week over 6,000 registrations were coming in each day just for Fairfax County. So the number of people who would be registering statewide on the last day has got to be 50,000 to 100,000 – possibly over 100,000. Every hour it is down could be blocking 10,000 registrants.”
