NEW AD: PRIDE FUND RELEASES AD SUPPORTING GUN REFORM CHAMPION ELAINE LURIA IN VA-02

Video highlights how Congresswoman Luria has drawn from her incredibly successful career as a mom, small business owner, and veteran to lead the fight for commonsense gun reform in Congress, compared to Republican Scott Taylor, who puts NRA blood money ahead of the safety of his community

October 15,  2020 — Washington, DC — Pride Fund to End Gun Violence PAC – America’s only LGBTQ political organization solely focused on gun violence prevention – today released their most recent campaign ad titled “Answering the Call.” The ad highlights how over her career as a Naval Surface Warfare Office in the U.S. Navy, a small business owner, and her first two years serving in Congress, Luria has answered the call of our country and the citizens of her district. She has fought for commonsense gun reform since day one, while her challenger Scott Taylor prioritizes the NRA agenda over the safety of his community. The ad shows Luria is answering the calls for change and will continue fighting on this issue in Congress.

Statement from Jason Lindsay, Founder & Executive Director, Pride Fund:

“We are proud to support Elaine Luria due to her commitment to making our communities better, safer, and more inclusive places for everyone,” said Jason Lindsay, Founder and Executive Director of Pride Fund. “Speaking as an Iraq war veteran with the U.S. Army, I am confident that Elaine will continue using her military background as a Naval Surface Warfare Officer to guide her decisions about gun safety and, unlike Scott Taylor, will prioritize the safety of her constituents over the gun lobby’s blood money.  Taylor showed his true allegiance to the NRA in his last campaign when he accepted a campaign check from them just one day after the horrific Parkland shooting that took the lives of 17 high school students and educators.”

Pride Fund is proud to release this ad and explain to voters in Virginia’s second district that Elaine is clearly the better option between the two candidates. She is an incredible advocate for gun violence prevention and will support policies we know will save lives, and she is also an incredible LGBTQ ally and will fight for equality and inclusiveness for all. Pride Fund could not be more excited to have her back in this election.

Among Elaine’s gun reform policy stances are the renewal of the assault weapons ban as well as a ban on bump stocks and high-capacity magazines. She also supports a ban on gun sales to those convicted of domestic violence, stalking and/or hate crimes, as well as those on the terrorist watch list. Finally, she also supports allocating proper funding and allowing the Centers for Disease Control to fully research America’s gun violence epidemic. Elaine will also stand up for the rights of the LGBTQ community, and fight to end discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations once and for all. From her commitment to public safety and her prioritization of people over the gun lobby’s money, to her support for equality and inclusivity for everyone, it is clear that she is the leader that Virginia’s second district deserves.

About the Pride Fund to End Gun Violence

Pride Fund to End Gun Violence (“Pride Fund”) is the only national LGBTQ political organization focused solely on gun violence prevention. Pride Fund was founded by Jason Lindsay, a gay Iraq War veteran, in the days following the June 2016 mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. When it occurred, the Pulse nightclub shooting was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. Pride Fund supports sensible gun policy reforms while championing LGBTQ safety and equality by advocating for legislation and supporting candidates at the state and federal levels.
