Judge William Webster Endorses Dr. Cameron Webb
Charlottesville, VA — Today, Judge William Webster, Republican and former CIA and FBI Director, endorsed Dr. Cameron Webb for the Virginia 5th District congressional seat.
In his statement of support Judge William Webster said, “As a lifelong Republican, I am supporting Dr. Webb because I identify with his values. He’s smart, he wants to work collaboratively and, frankly, in these dangerous days of racial divisions, I would like to see more diversity in Congress. I can’t think of a better time to send a good man like Dr. Webb to Washington.”
“I am honored to have Judge Webster’s support,” Dr. Webb said. “The Judge’s record of service speaks for itself and I will strive to lead by his model of bipartisan, steady leadership that prioritizes the safety, security, and best interests of the American people.”
Judge William Webster has a long and renowned history of service to our nation in a variety of legal, law enforcement, and national security roles. Judge Webster began his career as an attorney, rising to serve as US Attorney for Missouri before being nominated and confirmed as a Judge to the District Court and then the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals by President Richard Nixon. He served as a Judge for 5 years before being appointed to service as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations by President Jimmy Carter, a role he served in for 9 years. In 1987 he was selected by President Ronald Reagan to serve as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. He led the CIA until retiring in 1991, but has continued to serve our nation since in numerous advisory roles and positions.
Judge Webster’s endorsement is a powerful addition to the Webb campaign’s broad and growing coalition of supporters and provides further evidence of the momentum behind Dr. Webb.
