So, at this point (1/8), in Virginia we’re at 387,917 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 18,918 hospitalizations and 5,312 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 5,238 (+1.4%) in the latest statistics, which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 5,379 (+1.4%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 128 (+0.7%), which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 154 (+0.8%). Deaths are reported +37, compared to +49 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 4,500,002 (up 36,234 from yesterday).
