So, at this point (1/14), in Virginia we’re at 417,839 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 19,595 hospitalizations and 5,626 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 5,294 (+1.3%) in the latest statistics, which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 4,598 (+1.1%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 125 (+0.6%), which is a slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 144 (+0.8%). Deaths are reported +74, compared to +75 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 4,706,714 (up 32,084 from yesterday).
