See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (2/26), in Virginia we’re at 572,639 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 23,978 hospitalizations and 8,197 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went tp 1,657 (+0.3%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 2,036 (+0.4%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 107 (+0.5%), which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 73 (+0.3%).  Deaths are reported +234, compared to +156 the previous day. P.S. Also note, as VDH writes, “VDH is now processing 2021 death certificates related to the post-holiday surge of COVID-19 cases. As a result, a larger number of deaths is expected to be added by report date.”
