Tuesday (2/9) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +3,291 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 534,116), +172 Hospitalizations (to 22,339), +78 Deaths (to 6,898)

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (2/9), in Virginia we’re at 534,116 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 22,339 hospitalizations and 6,898 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 3,291 (+0.6%) in the latest statistics, which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 1,700 (+0.3%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 172 (+0.8%), which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 65 (+0.3%).  Deaths are reported +78, compared to +42 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 5,469,777 (up 19,803 from yesterday).
