Wednesday (2/17) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +2,284 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 555,592), +137 Hospitalizations (to 23,179), +38 Deaths (to 7,075)

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (2/17), in Virginia we’re at 555,592 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 23,179 hospitalizations and 7,075 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 2,284 (+0.4%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 1,770 (+0.3%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 137 (+0.6%), which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 98 (+0.4%).  Deaths are reported +38, compared to +21 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 5,633,818 (up 11,473 from yesterday).
