From the Democratic Party of Virginia:
In Response to Unified Democratic Condemnation, Virginia Republicans Double Down on Far Right Extremism
Richmond, VA — Today, in response to unified Democratic candidates speaking out condemning the racism and complete allegiance to Donald Trump that plagues the Virginia GOP, several Republican candidates doubled down on their far right extremism. Instead of taking the opportunity to step back from the dangerous extremism they have been peddling in this chaotic primary, or speaking out against the racism in their own ranks, Virginia Republicans have chosen to clarify that this is exactly who they are.
Glenn Youngkin’s weak, unsteady campaign chose once again to advance his Trumpian election fraud conspiracy theories — as he continues his unhinged refusal to state that Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 election. MAGA wannabe Pete Snyder attacked this serious condemnation of racism, which, considering his own record, is unfortunately unsurprising.
Frontrunner Amanda Chase — whose blatant racism the cowardly GOP field failed to condemn — did not shy away from her commitment to Trumpism, saying Democrats are right to call her extreme and that she wants to “make Virginia great again.” Kirk Cox’s fearful, flailing campaign could not even find the courage to respond to the dangerous extremism that defines the Virginia GOP.
“As they scramble to catch up to Amanda Chase in this disastrous primary, Virginia Republicans are cozying up to her dangerous views out of fear of political backlash,” said Manuel Bonder, DPVA spokesman. “Every one of these candidates is either too extreme or too afraid of Donald Trump and Amanda Chase to condemn the blatant racism that plagues their party — and every single one of them is demonstrating that they are completely unfit to lead Virginia.”
