I last looked at statewide candidates’ social media followings back on February 21. How are things looking now, around 1 1/2 months later? See below for the stats, with not a great deal of movement in the standings (but big growth for Sean Perryman on Twitter, and to a lesser extent for Jennifer Carroll Foy on Twitter and Glenn Youngkin on Facebook). Also note that while the Democratic primary is on June 8, early voting starts in just two weeks (!), only April 23. Not much time left, really…

  • Democrats lead on Twitter. Lee Carter is in first place, with 110,639 followers (basically unchanged since February 21); Terry McAuliffe continues in second place, with 72,243 followers (up slightly since February 21); Jennifer Carroll Foy is up to third place, with her Twitter followers at 35,784 (up over 9,000 since February 21); Justin Fairfax is in fourth place, with 31,093 (barely changed since February 21); Jennifer McClellan remains in fifth place, at 16,140 Twitter followers (up about 1,300 since February 21).
  • Republicans generally aren’t doing very well on Twitter. Amanda Chase is in sixth place, at 8,681 Twitter followers (up >400 since February 21); Pete Snyder is in seventh place, at 7,518 Twitter followers (up nearly 800 since February 21); Peter Doran is in eighth place, at 6,702 Twitter followers (up a bit over 100 since February 21); Kirk Cox is in ninth place, at 6,324 Twitter followers (up about 220 since February 21); and Glenn Youngkin is in tenth place, at 2,477 Twitter followers (up nearly 800 since February 21).
  • Amanda Chase would lead on Facebook (she had around 150,000), but her account is suspended, apparently for good. In her absence, Terry McAuliffe leads on Facebook, with 100,634 followers (basically unchanged since February 21). McAuliffe is followed by Justin Fairfax, with 23,744 Facebook followers (also basically unchanged). Pete Snyder is next, at 13,835 Facebook followers (up >1k since February 21); Kirk Cox is at 12,343 Facebook followers (up about 600 since February 21); Jennifer Carroll Foy is at 10,300 Facebook followers (up about 800 since February 21); Jennifer McClellan is at 8,123 Facebook followers (up about 600 since February 21); Lee Carter is at 6,288 Facebook followers (up about 140 since February 21); Glenn Youngkin is at 5,772 Facebook followers (up nearly 4,400 since February 21)…
  • Democratic LG candidates generally lead on Twitter.  Sean Perryman is in first place, at 67,456 Twitter followers (up >50k since February 21); Sam Rasoul is in second place, at 12,667 Twitter followers (up about 500 since February 21); Hala Ayala is in third place, at 11,011 Twitter followers (up about 570 since February 21); Elizabeth Guzman is in fourth place, at 9,497 Twitter followers (up about 320 since February 21). Next, we finally have a Republican – Tim Hugo – at 4,593 Twitter followers (up about 70 since February 21). Then we’re back to a Democrat (Mark Levine, at 2,823 Twitter followers; up about 130 since February 21), a Republican (Glenn Davis, at 2,759 Twitter followers; up 117 since February 21), [UPDATE: a Democrat (Andria McClellan, at around 2,000 Twitter followers)]; two Republicans (Puneet Ahluwalia at 387 – basically unchanged since February 21 – and Winsome Sears at 475 Twitter followers – up about 140 since February 21), a Democrat (Xavier Warren at 360 – up 29 since February 21) and a Republican (Lance Allen at 127 Twitter followers – up 86 since February 21).
  • Among LG candidates, Glenn Davis leads on Facebook, followed by Sam Rasoul. Davis is at 16,090 followers on Facebook (up 70 since February 21), with Rasoul at 12,360 Facebook followers (up about 320 since February 21); Lance Allen at 7,394 Facebook followers (up >500 since February 21); Elizabeth Guzman at 5,713 Facebook followers (up about 90 since February 21); Tim Hugo at 5,598 Facebook followers (up 136 since February 21); Andria McClellan at 4,368 Facebook followers (up 102 since February 21); Mark Levine at 3,834 Facebook followers (up 61 since February 21); Hala Ayala at 3,685 Facebook followers (up 49 since February 21); Xavier Warren at 2,521 Facebook followers (up 6 since February 21); Winsome Sears at 1,692 (up 364 since February 21) Facebook followers; Sean Perryman at 1,206 Facebook followers (up 246 since February 21); Puneet Ahluwalia at 1,036 Facebook followers (up 230 since February 21).
  • Mark Herring dominates the AG candidates on both Twitter (43,404 followers – up 76 since February 21) and Facebook (60,744 followers – down 105 since February 21). Jay Jones (D) is a distant second on both Twitter (5,348 followers – up nearly 700 since February 21) and Facebook (4,013 followers – up 66 since February 21). Jason Miyares (R) is next on both (1,308 Twitter followers and 3,260 Facebook followers…100+ on each), just ahead of Chuck Smith (R), who has 1,046 Twitter followers (up 57 since February 21) and 3,378 Facebook followers (up >400 since February 21); with Jack White (R) at just 344 Twitter followers and 503 Facebook followers; and Leslie Haley (R) at just 207 Twitter followers and just 781 Facebook followers
