LEESBURG, Va. – In a statement released this morning, all sitting elected Democratic Attorneys General across the country have announced their support for Mark Herring’s re-election bid for Attorney General of Virginia. It reads:

“A successful state Attorney General is someone who is driven to pursue justice, who uses the law both as a sword and a shield to protect the people of their state, and who provides stable and constant leadership while pushing for progress. Having worked side by side with Attorney General Mark Herring, there is no doubt he’s the progressive leader that meets the moment for the people of Virginia. Whether it’s eliminating the rape kit backlog, extending eviction protections through the pandemic or reducing gun violence in the Commonwealth, AG Herring has consistently taken on the tough fights. We’ve stood side by side with Mark in the fight for equality, safety, and justice; and resoundingly support his campaign for re-election as Virginia’s Attorney General.”

“To have the support of all sitting elected Democratic Attorneys General is no small feat, and a testament to Mark’s diligence and dedication to the job,” said Campaign Manager Farah Melendez. “In this race we are taking nothing for granted. Mark’s work over the past eight years on behalf of Virginians is what earned him the overwhelming support of his colleagues. We’re confident that Virginians will re-elect Attorney General Herring because time and time again he has gotten the job done and had the back of his fellow Virginians.”

“Having the support of this brilliant and diverse group of leaders is humbling, and I’m proud of our collective achievements,” said Attorney General Mark Herring. “My colleagues are doing incredible work across the country, and I’ve learned so much from them.
