Terry for Virginia Launches New Digital Ad Calling Out Extreme Republican Glenn Youngkin for Peddling Donald Trump’s Dangerous, Divisive Playbook

Virginia Forward” Contrasts Extreme Republican Glenn Youngkin Running on Trump’s Playbook with Terry McAuliffe’s Strong Record and Bold Vision to Push Virginia Forward

Following Months of Youngkin Pandering To Trump, Donald Trump Endorsed Youngkin for Governor One Day After He Bought Republican Convention Win

MCLEAN, VA – Terry for Virginia today launched a new digital ad, “Virginia Forward,” outlining extreme, Trump-endorsed Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin’s dangerous views and efforts to take Virginia back. Throughout his campaign, Youngkin has made clear he wants to take Virginia backwards and undo all of the progress Terry McAuliffe and Virginia Democrats have made over the past eight years by expanding access to health care, reproductive rights, voting rights, and LGBTQ+ equality. The ad compares Youngkin to his top supporter Donald Trump and contrasts his extreme views with Terry’s strong record of making progress for Virginia families. The features clip of Glenn Youngkin proudly saying, “…said you know what, here comes another guy who is like Donald Trump, and I said thank you very much.”

Despite facing an extreme Republican legislature as Virginia’s 72nd Governor, Terry made important progress for the Commonwealth on the economy and education, and he stood up for Virginians’ most basic civil rights at every turn. Terry secured a record $1 billion investment in education and expanded preschool to thousands of children, created 200,000 jobs and raised personal income 14%, and successfully stood up to every Republican attack on Virginians’ reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ equality.

As Virginia’s next governor, Terry will build on his strong record and the progress made under Governor Ralph Northam. Terry will fight to accelerate Virginia’s minimum wage increase to $15 by 2024, make sure all workers have access to paid sick, family and medical leave, and make sure child care is more accessible and affordable. He will also work to ensure that all Virginians have access to quality, affordable health care and a safe and affordable place to call home, and Terry will make an unprecedented investment in education to ensure every Virginia child has equitable access to a world-class education and a brighter future.
