Good news, courtesy of @VAmonument2021:

“Robert E. Lee Statue to be removed Wednesday, 9/8/21. Installation of protective fencing begins Tuesday PM, 9/7/21. Continue to follow this site for the latest up-to-date info throughout the removal process.”

Of course, this removal comes decades after the statue honoring someone who fought against the United States of America – and for the “Confederate insurrection,” as Gov. Northam correctly calls it – SHOULD have come down (better yet, it should never have been erected in the first place). Still, it’s great to see!
