Virginia House Republicans did their usual thing this morning, yet again blocking two constitutional amendments – SJ 1 (automatic restoration of voting rights) and SJ 5 (remove same-sex marriage ban) – “that would make VA a freer and more equitable place to live and raise a family.” And, as DPVA Chair Susan Swecker correctly points out:
“Glenn Youngkin had the chance to do the right thing and encourage House Republicans to vote for the marriage equality and restoration of rights constitutional amendments that Virginians are overwhelmingly in favor of. Instead he hid. Cowardice.“
Great “leadership,” huh? Of course, Youngkin’s the same guy who said “I think Governor DeSantis has done a lot of really impressive things to lead and this is where I look to lead as governor”; and also said “I was HONORED to receive [Trump’s] endorsement…President Trump represents so much of why I’m running.” So what else would we expect from this guy?
