Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA02), speaking yesterday about Ivanka Trump’s testimony before the House 1/6 Select Committee:
- Ivanka Trump and others have “direct knowledge, they are people who were there in the White House on January 6th, and they may have seen some or all of the events that happened that day, so it’s really important to the committee to be able to piece those things together…We need to be able to go back to the people that this is about and understand from them, are those statements true, are they accurate. So it’s really valuable when we we have the opportunity to ask questions of people who were in the room on that day.“
- “187 minutes, that’s over three hours…that the president did not act. My question is, why didn’t he just go to the briefing room and go on TV?…He’s the Commander in Chief…It’s like a commander, a captain of a ship watching the ship burn and literally sits there for three hours, takes no action, directs no one to respond to the burning fire. That’s dereliction of duty, that’s the kind of thing a military officer could be court martialed for.”
