From DPVA:
SILENCE: Youngkin Refuses to Denounce Trump as He Calls for the Termination of Constitution
Richmond, VA – On Friday, in an apparent attempt to re-litigate the results of the 2020 Presidential Election, the leader of the Republican Party, former President Donald Trump, posted on social media, writing, “Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
In the two days since his party leader called for the termination of the Constitution, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has remained silent. In failing to denounce this assault on our country’s foundational document, Youngkin continues his self-serving brand of party-over-country politics.
Youngkin spent the 2022 election cycle campaigning with infamous election deniers like Tudor Dixon in Michigan and Kari Lake in Arizona, who lost her gubernatorial election and still refuses to concede defeat.
“Governor Youngkin’s silence in the face of Trump calling for the overthrow of the Constitution speaks volumes about his character,” said DPVA spokesperson Liam Watson. “His cowardly refusal to hold his party’s leadership accountable does as much to undermine our democracy as Trump’s repeated attempts to overturn the results of a free and fair election.”
