As noted yesterday, Del. Ken Plum (D-Fairfax) is reportedly retiring (I’m hearing he sent out an email this morning announcing this decision) after more than 40 years (!) in the House of Delegates. This is a deep-“blue” district, and several Democrats are expected to toss their hats in the ring. This morning, for instance, Democrat Paul Berry announced his candidacy. Now, Democrat Mary Barthelson – who ran against Del. Plum two years ago – has also thrown her hat in the ring, saying that her focus will be on “housing, mental health, technology.” Rumors are that at least a couple more Democrats will also be joining this growing field. Stay tuned, and may the best candidate win!
