So many questions about this…such as: 1) why would the content of a neo-Nazi like Jason Kessler (organizer of the infamous “United the Right” neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville in August 2017) even be appearing in your Twitter feed at all?; 2) as someone heavily involved in Virginia politics, is there any way you wouldn’t know who Kessler is?; 3) even if you do NOT know who Kessler is, why would you share his hateful content, in this case falsely claiming that Madonna’s doing a “fundraiser…supporting a mass shooter rather than the victims?” On that last point, note that what Madonna is actually doing is this:
Madonna announced Monday in a press release that she would add eight additional shows to The Celebration Tour later this year. One of those dates will be in Nashville, Tennessee, where lawmakers just passed the hateful Senate Bill 3 into law, widely known as the “Drag Ban” bill. A portion of the proceeds will go towards trans rights organizations in the state in response to the ban.
In a statement, she said that “the oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color.” She added that “these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to fuck with a drag queen.”
Madonna, who will tour with legendary RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bob the Drag Queen, said, “Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community.”
So…how on earth does that somehow equate to “supporting a mass shooter?” Unless, of course, what Kessler’s falsely/disgustingly implying is that all transgender people are mass shooters? Does Kessler do the same thing when a mass shooting is carried out by a white male (which is almost always the case with mass shootings)? Of course not, so why would he do so in this case? And again, why would anyone share his hateful content, whether or not they know who Kessler is? So…any comment on any of this, Speaker Todd Gilbert, particularly on this Transgender Day of Remembrance?
