DPVA Chairwoman Calls On GOP U.S. Senate Candidates To Stand With Law Enforcement And The FBI
Richmond, VA – Recent reporting from NBC News highlighted the efforts of Virginia’s Democratic Senators, Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, to build the FBI’s new headquarters in Springfield, in spite of Republican efforts to defund the project entirely. Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker issued the following statement in response to Republicans’ attacks on the FBI:
“It’s sad to see MAGA Republicans in Virginia, like Scott Parkinson and Hung Cao, follow Donald Trump’s lead in disparaging the hardworking law enforcement professionals at the FBI. We are fortunate to have two Democratic Senators, Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, who stand with law enforcement and work every day in a bipartisan manner to make our communities safer. Virginia is the best home for the FBI to meet its mission of protecting the American people. Parkinson, Cao, and all Virginia Republicans must denounce efforts to nix the FBI’s relocation, as well as Donald Trump’s calls to defund the institution.”
The proposal to build the FBI’s new headquarters in Springfield would support an estimated 7,500 jobs in the region. Republican U.S. Senate candidates Scott Parkinson and Hung Cao both attacked federal law enforcement earlier this week, and Cao recently peddled conspiracy theories about the FBI in an interview appearance.
