Trump-Endorsing Right-Wingnut Glenn Youngkin Announces Vetoes on 20 Democratic Bills That Would Have Made Things Better for Virginians

Because..."reasons"

See below for a press release from Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s office on 30 bills he signed into law, along with 20 bills he vetoed. As usual, Youngkin is lying, in this case claiming that the bills he vetoed supposedly “would impose significant burdens on small businesses, limit statewide decision-making, and escalate tuition fees and expenses for hardworking Virginia families.” In fact, what those bills would have done is:

  • Return Virginia to membership in the crucially important ERIC (the Electronic Registration Information Center)
  • Allow a locality to prohibit sale of the nasty, invasive, environmentally harmful English Ivy
  • Allow Virginians to file class-action lawsuits, as citizens can in 48 other states.
  • “[A]llow localities to require waste segregation so we can compost & make more biomethane – Who hates composting!?” – Sen. Scott Surovell
  • “[Require] a crew of at least two qualified individuals on all trains, locomotives, or light engines used in connection with moving freight.”
  • Institute “board-level gender and diversity requirements for economic development incentives.”
  • [P]rovide that a lockout by an employer shall not constitute a labor dispute and that locked-out employees who are otherwise eligible for benefits shall receive such benefits”
  • “[Provide] that nothing in the law requiring the Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies for ensuring parental notification of any instructional material that includes sexually explicit content and requiring each school board to adopt policies that are consistent with but may be more comprehensive than such model policies or that is in such model policies or school board policies shall be construed to permit the censoring of books in any public elementary or secondary school.”

And much more – see below. In short, Youngkin continues to act in a manner that belies the media’s false portrayal of him in 2021, 2022, etc. as some sort of “moderate” or “pragmatist” or whatever. In fact, the guy’s endorsed Trump, heaped praised upon Trump, stated that Ron DeSantis is his role-model governor, campaigned for extremists like Kari Lake and Paul LePage, demonized Democrats, etc, etc. Bottom line: Youngkin’s a right wingnut through and through, and also a HORRIBLE governor who knows nothing about how to compromise, work with others who don’t agree with him, etc. Pathetic.
