Given that Donald Trump’s 2024 senior strategist, Chris LaCivita, just called the Winsome Earle-Sears campaign a bunch of “amateurs” (see below), here’s a quick review of the bad blood between Earle-Sears and Trump/Trump’s people. Enjoy – and just imagine the reaction if one of Kamala Harris’ top strategists called the Spanberger campaign “amateurs?” Of course, that wouldn’t happen, because they’re competent, unlike the Earle-Sears campaign – at least according to Chris LaCivita. LOL 🙂
- Trump’s former Virginia campaign chair, John Fredericks, said: “Winsome Sears, a lot of issues with MAGA, kind of a Never Trumper. Now, she tried to do a turnaround, nobody really believes her. So, we’ll see how that goes. But not, not the, not the strongest candidate that Republicans could put up, by any means, but we’ll see what happens anyway.”
- Fredericks also called Earle-Sears an “incredibly weak candidate at the top of the ticket” who could “drag down” the rest of the ticket.
- In November 2022, a “Trump flack” (as Jeff Schapiro described the person) warned that “there will be a reckoning” for Sears, that “her comments are a slap to the face to all of the grassroots Republicans that worked so hard to get her elected,” etc.
- Also in November 2022, Donald Trump himself posted, “Never felt good about Winsome Sears. Always thought she was a phony. Now I find out she is.” And for good measure Trump/MAGA fanatic Amanda Chase said Sears “has gone from a hero to a zero” for her “betrayal of Donald Trump,” calling that “shameful.”
And now, Chris LaCivita says Earle-Sears’ campaign is a bunch of “amateurs.” Of course, Earle-Sears has been trying desperately to get back into the Trump camp’s good graces, “fully embracing” him, and she’s had some success in doing so, but clearly some bad blood remains. Which, of course, as a Democrat who wants to see Earle-Sears get crushed in November, that works for me – let’s hope it continues through the summer and fall and see how this all works out for them! 🙂
