Another Democrat, civil rights attorney Andrew Lucchetti, throws his hat in the ring to take on the abysmal, disgraceful Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA01). Lucchetti joins Amanda Pohl and Lisa Verdernikova Khanna in the race so far (with rumors of other potential candidates, including Levar Stoney and Shannon Taylor), in a district won by Trump in 2024 by 5.1 points, and by Hung Cao by 3.8 points, so definitely leaning “red,” but also a district that seems to be slowing trending more into the “purple” territory – and which the DCCC has named as “in play” for 2026. So it’s not going to be easy, by any means, but in a “blue wave” election AND with a super-strong Democratic nominee, it’s possible that Democrats could win VA01…especially given Wittman’s unforgiveable vote for the Big Ugly Monstrosity bill that will devastate VA01, Virginia and the country. With that, let the strongest Democrat win!

Andrew Lucchetti Launches Campaign to Represent VA-01 in Congress
Mechanicsville, Va. — Andrew Lucchetti announced that he is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Virginia’s first congressional district—currently held by incumbent Republican Rob Wittman.

Andrew is a civil rights attorney who has spent his career getting justice for people who have been victims of abuse, misconduct, or negligence. In his law practice, Andrew has fought for the civil rights of Virginians when they have been violated and has represented people against big insurance companies and corporations who have tried to take advantage of them.
“Donald Trump and the GOP—including Rob Wittman—just sold out Virginians to their donors and big corporations at the expense of hardworking people. They are kicking millions of Americans off their healthcare and taking food off the table of families who will otherwise go hungry,” said Andrew Lucchetti. “I am running to represent the working families of Virginia because not only are our politicians not helping, they are setting the very policies to make things worse. I’ve spent my career taking on tough fights and standing up for the little guy, and that’s what I’ll do in Congress.”
Andrew is a believer in second chances, having been given the choice by a judge decades ago to face prosecution for a drug possession charge, or enter a recovery program.
