Excellent points by former VA Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling (R/Trump voter) about Winsome Earle-Sears egregiously dishonest, error-filled and nasty new ad. Among the errors in this monstrosity by the Earle-Sears campaign: 1) the 105th Congress was in 1997-1999, when Abigail Spanberger was just 18-20 yrs old and in college; 2) the Equality Act was written by Rep. David Ciccilini (not by Spanberger) & introduced in 2015 (four years before Spanberger became a member of Congress); etc. Just sloppy error after sloppy error…falsehood-laden hot garbage, basically.
Also, for the record, the Equality Act’s goal was “to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, public accommodations, education, federally funded programs, credit, and jury service,” NOT to do the things the Earle-Sears ad claims (e.g., to allow a “transgender predator” to “[expose] himself in school showers” – that’s a crime, by the way).
Anyway, as Bill Bolling – a conservative Republican – points out, even though he “certainly [doesn’t] support letting biological males use girl’s restrooms or locker rooms,” this new ad raises the questions:
“…is this the only issue the Sears campaign has to talk about? What about jobs and the economy? What about education, health care and transportation? I think these are the issues Virginians care most about. Does Sears have anything to offer on these issues?”
And yes, as Bill Bolling says, “if this is all the Sears campaign has to talk about, I think they are in serious trouble.”
