Good stuff from Virginians for Fair Elections. Meanwhile, hopefully we’ll get a ruling from the VA Supreme Court soon, because early voting starts in one week – next Friday, March 6, so any time now guys! 🙂
ONE WEEK BEFORE EARLY VOTE, YES CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES SIX-FIGURE CONSTITUENCY MEDIA BUY
Targeted digital and radio ads engage Black and Latino voters statewide ahead of April 21 referendum
RICHMOND, Va. — With Early Voting beginning next Friday, March 6, Virginians for Fair Elections — the Vote YES campaign — has already started communicating with voters, and is adding to that commitment with a six-figure paid media investment reaching Black and Spanish-speaking voters across the Commonwealth.
As Politico Playbook reported this morning, the buy includes three new ads — “What You Need To Know,” “Basta,” “Erase” — running on digital, streaming, and radio platforms statewide. The ads focus on what’s at stake in the April 21 referendum: whether Virginians will level the playing field — or let Donald Trump and his MAGA allies rig the midterms.
“Donald Trump wants to rig the midterms before they even begin. Virginia is doing the opposite — letting voters decide,” said Vote YES spokesman Dan Gottlieb. “With Early Vote days away, we’re making sure voters across Virginia have clear, accurate information — especially in communities that are often the first to be targeted when politicians try to rig the rules. This emergency amendment is about one thing: putting power back in the hands of the people. So we’re asking Virginians to make their voices heard — Vote YES.”
“What You Need To Know” is a direct explainer on redistricting and why the referendum is a temporary, emergency measure to level the playing field while Trump tries to silence voters.
“Basta,“ a Spanish-language radio ad, speaks directly to Trump’s attempts to consolidate political control in our neighborhoods, schools, and places of worship, and emphasizes that Virginians from all walks of life are voting YES by April 21 so that we can have the final say on our representation in Congress.
“Erase” connects the broader MAGA agenda to efforts to redraw congressional maps without voter approval and underscores that the referendum is about protecting Virginia’s voting power.
The investment is part of a broader statewide paid and earned media campaign leading into Early Vote and Election Day.
