Virginia Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn Announces David Cary as New Chief of Staff

Richmond, VA – Today, Virginia House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn announced the hiring of David Cary as her new Chief of Staff.

David Cary has served as the Chief of Staff to the First Lady of Virginia since she took office in 2018. David has also served as Assistant Secretary of Education since 2020, helping to design, develop and implement programs investing in public education to serve a record 25,000+ preschool students across the Commonwealth. Prior to serving as the Chief of Staff to the First Lady, he worked on the Northam for Governor campaign as well as campaigns throughout Virginia and the country.

Cary replaces Kevin O’Holleran, who has served as the Speaker’s Chief of Staff since January 2020.

“I am so excited to have David join my team and begin working as my Chief of Staff. David’s record of accomplishment during his tenure in the First Lady’s office includes transforming early childhood education and doubling Pre-K funding to serve a record total of more than 25,000 three- and four-year-olds. In addition, I worked with David and the First Lady to expand Virginia’s Child Care Subsidy Program serving over 27,000 children. David will help lead our team as we continue our efforts to improve the lives of Virginians in every corner of our Commonwealth,” said Speaker Filler-Corn.
