Kiggans campaigned on lowering prices, but has now unleashed $4 a gallon gas and the highest diesel prices in American history;

Kiggans was previously caught scrubbing mentions of sky-high gas prices from her website

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. –  On Friday, the U.S. Department of Labor announced that the consumer price index jumped 3.4% in August compared with a year ago. According to the report, prices of gas, groceries, appliances, car repairs, phone bills, travel, and more have all skyrocketed and are expected to continue to rise due to Republicans’ failed economic agenda of tariffs and forever wars.

Jen Kiggans has said that she “couldn’t be a stauncher supporter” of the war in Iran and has voted four times to continue Trump’s tariffs – even as gas prices, grocery prices, and inflation skyrockets and drives up costs for Virginians.

“Jen Kiggans and Donald Trump are focused on building ballrooms and giving tax cuts to billionaires,” Elaine Luria said. “They have no plan to bring down the sky high cost of gas, groceries, and health care, and no interest in serving anyone but themselves.”

No relief from inflation as Middle East clashes lifts fuel prices to painful levels

• U.S. inflation accelerated last month as gas prices spiked in the wake of renewed fighting in the Middle East
• The consumer price index rose 3.4% last month compared with a year ago
• Gasoline prices are not all that is rising. Prices for appliances, car repairs, and wireless phone services also jumped last month. 
• Economists worry that more expensive fuel can spill into other parts of the economy. Diesel prices have hit record record highs above $6 a gallon, which pushes up the cost of shipping for groceries and other goods.

Kiggans has said she “couldn’t be a stauncher supporter” of the war and has voted seven times against bipartisan resolutions to end the war or demand the president seek congressional authorization to continue it. In June, Kiggans was caught red-handed scrubbing “parts of her campaign website discussing the cost of gas and the economic struggles of Virginians,” as gas prices soared.
