See below for video and a press release from Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-VA10)’s campaign, regarding her participation in this morning’s Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce debate. Yesterday, a new poll found Rep. Wexton beating her right-wing Republican opponent by a whopping 22 points (58%-36%), which is astounding given that just a few years ago, this district was (mis)represented by Republicans like Frank Wolf and Barbara Comstock. Part of this is that the district’s been trending “blue” for years, a trend accelerated by a massive suburban backlash against Trump and the Trump GOP. It’s also partly that Jennifer Wexton is a talented, effective, pragmatic progressive public servant, who strongly deserves reelection!

Wexton’s Experience and Record of Proven Results Shine Through in Virginia-10 Debate

Leesburg, VA — In a debate this morning hosted by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA-10) touted her record of delivering results for Virginia’s families throughout her decades in public service.

Wexton drew a sharp contrast with her opponent, drawing on her experience as a prosecutor, state Senator, and first-term Member of Congress and detailing plans to build on the work she’s done fighting on behalf of the 10th District in Washington. Wexton discussed how she’s worked to support communities through the COVID-19 crisis — including helping more than 18,800 VA-10 small businesses secure federal relief totaling $2.4 billion and closing over 2,000 constituent cases during the pandemic. Wexton founded the bipartisan Agritourism Caucus last year and has worked to support the district’s tech sector and other small businesses throughout her two years in office.

Congresswoman Wexton also spoke about sponsoring and passing legislation during her first term on the issues that she promised to champion, including affordable health care, gun violence prevention, and standing up for federal workers.

“Virginia families are facing unimaginable difficulties right now, and they deserve a representative in Congress who’s proven she can get the job done,” said Wexton. “I’ve successfully worked across the aisle to help our families and small businesses weather the COVID crisis. I’ve also put in the time and miles to get out to every corner of our district and hear from our community about the issues that matter to them. My entire career has been spent fighting for Virginia’s kids and families, and I look forward to continuing that fight for years to come.”

The debate was held in person with social-distancing precautions enforced and a virtual audience. The full video can be found on the Chamber’s website here.
