VIDEO: As Biden Signs ARP, DGA Calls Out VA GOP Candidates for Refusing to Support COVID-19 Relief
The DGA released a video today highlighting Virginia GOP gubernatorial candidates’ refusal to support the American Rescue Plan, a popular, bipartisan COVID-19 relief package which was signed into law yesterday.
As Virginia Republicans focus hard on fighting one another and winning over die-hard Trump voters, they are failing to look out for the needs of everyday Virginians.
Here’s what Virginia Republicans are opposing: $2 billion to help reopen schools, $1400 stimulus checks for struggling Virginians, small business relief, and funding for additional vaccines, among other critical aid to help keep Virginians safe and the economy recover. The ARP is supported by 75% of Americans, including 55% of Trump voters and 59% of Republicans.

“Virginia Republicans are too busy trying to prove who is the most loyal to Trump that they’re refusing to support a popular, bipartisan relief package that will help our country recover from the pandemic and provide financial relief to thousands of Virginians,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “Kirk Cox, Amanda Chase, Glenn Youngkin, and Pete Snyder need to explain why they put loyalty to Donald Trump above getting desperately-needed aid to Virginians.”
