It’s Still VERY Important to Stop the Spread of COVID-19, Yet Virginia Republicans Overwhelmingly Don’t Seem to Give a Flying You-Know-What

Here are some recent photos from the campaign trail, as VA Republicans show why they absolutely should NOT be elected in November.

Unless you live in a cave or under a rock, you should be well aware that the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over. For instance, see this 3/26 post by McKinsey & Company, which notes that:

  • “Improved vaccine availability makes herd immunity most likely in the third quarter for the United Kingdom and the United States.” That’s right, the *third quarter*, which is the July-September time frame. So obviously, we’re still a few months away from that…
  • And even “when herd immunity is reached, the risks will not vanish; herd immunity may prove temporary or be limited to regions in a country.”
  • It is increasingly clear that more infectious variants of concern may drive a new wave of cases in the coming months.” Also, “Variants may also reduce vaccine efficacy or enable reinfection.” Which is a big reason why we need to reduce the spread of COVID-19 as much as possible, so that more dangerous variants don’t gain a foothold and spread.
  • During this transition, controlling the spread of SARS-CoV-2 will still require public-health measures (such as continued COVID-19 testing and mask use in many settings).”

The bottom line is clear: we’re making progress, but for at least the next few months, we really need to be continuing mask wearing, social distancing, etc., because the pandemic certainly is NOT over, and there are dangerous variants that need to be guarded against. Fortunately, many if not most Americans still seem to be taking this seriously; that’s why you don’t see any in-person campaigning by Democratic candidates these days, for example. Unfortunately, there’s a significant subgroup – Republicans, overwhelmingly – who are acting irresponsibly.

See below for some recent examples of flagrant irresponsibility and lack of care for others by Virginia GOP statewide candidates. Also, contrast this sociopathic behavior to Democratic candidates and elected officials, who are overwhelmingly being VERY cautious, holding the vast majority of their events virtually, wearing masks, socially distancing, etc. It’s really not that hard a concept…but only if you actually *give a flying you-know-what* about the health and lives of yourself, your family, and your potential voters – something the following Republicans clearly don’t give a crap about. This Republican irresponsibility – from the same hypocritical people who just loooove to preach about “personal responsibility,” by the way – is truly breathtaking, and should *by itself* eliminate these people from consideration for election in November…or ever, really.
