As part of my continuing series of interesting and/or amazing videos – mostly music videos – I come across on YouTube, here’s what I’ve found so far. Note that I’m trying to keep this to amateurs; obviously, there are superb covers of many songs by professional singers as well, but I think it’s fun discovering new artists. Anyway, I’ll continue to update this list as I find more videos. Enjoy! (also, please suggest your own in the comments section)
Best of YouTube Covers: “Pride (In the Name of Love)” by U2. Cover by Mike Masse.
“I Will Follow You Into the Dark” by Death Cab for Cutie. Covers by Geoff Andersen, sstec09, and Kurt Hugo Schneider.
“God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys. Covers by Switchfoot, The Fendertones, Matthew Jordan, Holly Kirby.
Star Trek: Tik Tok. Not a cover, just very funny.
“The Cartoon Medley”. Great work by FreddeGredde.
Jackie Evancho. Simply amazing.
“Telephone” by Lady Gaga. Lots of good ones, I’d probably go with David Choi’s version. HelenaMaria are great too. Also, check out Aston – wow, these people are talented!
“There’s Nothing Like Felafel” by the ever-hilarious GoRemy, who also did the famous Arlington rap!
“You’re Beautiful by James Blunt. Cover by Jimmy & Bastiaan.
Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. Covers by Allison and David Choi. The best professional cover, IMHO, is by KD Lang, with a close second place to Jeff Buckley.
“California Dreamin’ by the Mamas and the Papas. Cover by the MonaLisa Twins.
“Angie” by the Rolling Stones. Cover by Ana Free.
