TIM KAINE'S GRASSROOTS SUPPORT TOPS 40,000 DONORS

Richmond, VA – Today, Kaine for Virginia announced that in just six weeks the number of individual grassroots supporters has grown from an unprecedented 30,000 individual donors to more than 40,000.  From the start of the campaign, Tim Kaine’s strong grassroots support has kept the race a dead heat despite more than $13 million spent by outside groups on false, negative ads against Kaine.
 
“Since my first race for city council in Richmond, grassroots supporters and volunteers have driven my campaigns.  I am so proud to say that, as we close in on Election Day, we have the support of more than 40,000 individual donors,” said Kaine. “Through November, outside groups will continue to dramatically outspend us, but they can’t replace the nearly 10,000 volunteers who have made more than 1 million calls and knocked on more than 100,000 doors. I’m confident the hard work of Virginians across the state will be what makes the difference in this race. The fact that our grassroots support continues to expand and our momentum continues to build confirms that voters are eager for leaders in Washington who will work together to break through the partisan gridlock to get our economy back on track.”
