The following is from DPVA Communications Director Ashley Bauman (who, by the way, is leaving soon to work for the DNC – congratulations!). I couldn’t agree more that authorities need to get to the bottom of this corruption scandal and hold people – of whatever party – fully accountable under the law for their actions.
Good morning — I wanted to make sure you saw this Richmond Times-Dispatch article that details the lengths Virginia Republicans will go in their campaign to deny health care coverage to 400,000 Virginians by blocking the expansion of Medicaid.
“The Justice Department should take the next steps to also investigate those who concocted this seemingly shady deal,” said DPVA Executive Director Robert Dempsey. “Instead of working to fix the problems that face their constituents, they embraced the extreme tactics of the Tea Party and have refused to offer a solution to close the coverage gap. They continue to do this while also brokering what looks like backroom deals in the dead of night to prevent our most at-risk citizens from getting the care they need.
“Virginians deserve better from their leaders, and they deserve to know the truth of what really went on here.”
