Senator Tim Kaine Releases New AAPI Print Ads in 2018 Senate Campaign
Ads Emphasize Kaine’s Commitment to AAPI Virginians, Growing Economy, Improving Education
Today, Senator Tim Kaine is releasing two new print ads in his 2018 Senate campaign, which will be featured in Korean and Vietnamese language newspapers in Northern Virginia. As Republicans engage in a negative, divisive primary campaign in which they appeal to their far-right base, Kaine’s ads focus on his commitment to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Virginians, specifically noting his record of investing in education and supporting businesses to create jobs.
“Senator Kaine is committed to making Virginia work for everyone, including the growing AAPI population across the Commonwealth,” said Kaine for Virginia Political Director Alice Lin Tong. “While some candidates follow President Trump’s lead in dividing us, Senator Kaine is committed to representing all communities and helping every Virginian — no matter the color of their skin, their ethnic background, religion, nationality or sexual orientation — get equal treatment and access to good jobs, health care and education.”
The ads, which began going into rotation last week, will run in two Korean language newspapers — Korea Times and Chosun Daily — and three Vietnamese language newspapers — Saigon Weekly, Washington Viet Paper/Hoa Thinh Don Viet Bao, and Doi Nay — primarily across Northern Virginia. These are the first print ads of Kaine’s campaign.
