See below for a new and VERY well-done video by the Vangie Williams for Congress campaign (VA-01) — great production values, pitch-perfect message, etc. I love the following lines:
“I’ve been called a girl, sweetheart, well-spoken, and even a ‘nice colored lady.’ And I’ve heard a lot of stories like my own. I’m Vangie Williams, and all I wanted was to be heard. My Congressman wouldn’t listen, so I decided to tell you myself...[My daughter] battles a chronic condition that puts her at risk of fatal lung infections. Living in rural Virginia, no hospital around us can treat her; we had to fight to get insurance to cover it. My only option was to raise my voice. So I reached out to Congressman Rob Wittman and I asked him for help. We spent our life savings, lost our home and went bankrupt, because that’s what you do when your kid is sick...I tried to see Congressman Wittman in Washington, but the only sound I heard was ‘the Congressman is busy’…And yet somehow Rob Wittman found time to vote against Obamacare...I don’t know who he’s listening to in Washington, but it sure it isn’t the people he’s there to represent…I’m Vangie Williams, I’m running for families just like mine…because unlike Rob Wittman, I hear them…”
As far as I’m concerned, this should be one of the core Democratic messages against any and all cold, uncaring, corporate Republicans like Rob Wittman. Of course, the message has to be credible and delivered well, as is the case here. In sum, great job by the Vangie Williams for Congress campaign. Now, let’s all hope she pulls a huge upset and defeats Rob “The Congressman Is Busy” Wittman on November 6!
