From the Democratic Party of Virginia:

Dave Brat BLATANTLY LIES about pre-existing conditions record

Brat, under siege for voting to gut protections for those who pre-existing conditions, tries to crudely deceive VA-07 voters on his record

Richmond, VA — Dave Brat has unsuccesfully voted 9 times to completely repeal the law that provides coverage and financial protections for those with pre-existing conditions.

Then, he championed the American Health Care Act (AHCA) that would have gutted those protections.

Now, under attack from his constituents from trying to rip healthcare from sick people, Brat is now lying about his heinous record when it comes to pre-existing conditions.

Yesterday, Brat responded to criticism of his healthcare record by claiming that he voted to protect those with pre-existing conditions by championing the AHCA. Like much of what Dave Brat has said this campaign season, the Congressman was bald-faced lying.

Politifact, among a multitude of sources, declared that Dave Brat’s beloved AHCA would have “weakened existing protections for people with pre-existing conditions” and “allowed for people with pre-existing conditions to be charged more per year for their insurance coverage – possibly to the tune of thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars more per year.”

Moreover, Dave Brat voted nine times for a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act and to wipe away the protections it provides for those with pre-existing conditions. He called repealing the ACA and its pre-existing condition protections “a big priority.”

The bottom line? When Dave Brat says he supports protections for those with pre-existing conditions, he’s just being the dishonest Washington politician that VA-07 voters know him to be.

DPVA Communications Director Jake Rubenstein said the following of Dave Brat’s latest attempt at deceiving his constituents“Dave Brat doesn’t care about people with pre-existing conditions, and his voting record proves it. To pull out of thin air 28 days before Election Day that he voted to protect these people is not only laughable, but insulting to the intelligence of his constituents.”
