U.S. House Overwhelmingly Passes Bipartisan “NATO Support Act”; Reps. Ben Cline (VA-06) and Morgan Griffith (VA-09) Vote with Putin and Putin’s BFF in the White House

How awful, crazy and extreme are several Republican members of the Virginia Congressional delegation? How about voting against this House resolution in support of NATO?

The Democratic-controlled House approved a bill Tuesday that would reiterate strong congressional support for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization alliance amid recent reports that President Donald Trump raised the idea of withdrawing from NATO several times last year…

The bill, which passed with bipartisan support by 357-22, states that it’s US policy to remain a member of NATO and prohibits funds from being used to withdraw from the alliance.

Last year, the Republican-led Senate approved a motion of support for NATO the same day that Trump arrived in Brussels, Belgium, for a NATO summit. And a bipartisan group of senators introduced a bill that would require Senate approval for the US to withdraw from NATO.

So, first of all, note that support for NATO is almost completely bipartisan and overwhelming, with the U.S. Senate voting 97-2 last June on a similar, pro-NATO resolution as the one that just overwhelmingly passed the House, 357-22.  Second, note that in Tuesday evening’s 357-22 pro-NATO vote in the House, every single one of the 22 voting NOT to support NATO was a Republican. And of those 22 (see screen shot, below – click to “embiggen”), two – Rep. Ben Cline (VA-06) and Rep. Morgan Griffith (VA-09) – were from Virginia. A few other “craziest of the crazies” voting against NATO?  Good ol’ “Gym Jordan”, this slimeball (Mark Meadows), and this lunatic (Louis Gohmert).

So yeah, we can now lump Virginia’s own Ben Cline and Morgan Griffith into the small category of “worst of the worst, craziest of the crazies in Congress.” Of course, we already knew Griffith (the “Vikings, Mars, and Global Cooling” guy) was bat****,  and we’re rapidly finding out how extreme and crazy Cline is (e.g., see here, here and here). I mean, hell, even Denver “Bigfoot” Riggleman and Rob Witt-less managed to vote for the NATO Support Act — but not Cline or Griffith, coincidentally the two U.S. Representatives from the parts of Virginia, VA06 and VA09, which voted most heavily for Putin’s BFF in the White House. Hmmmm…
