On June 24, I posted about the good news that Virginia’s COVID-19 “Effective Reproduction Number” was at just 0.76, well below the magic 1.0 threshold and fifth-best in the country. Well now, unfortunately, it’s now baaaack above 1.0, meaning that it’s just above the point where the virus’ spread slows, and into virus-spreading territory. Also note that Virginia now has the 14th-lowest Rt in the country, up from the the fifth-lowest on June 24. So clearly, that’s not nearly as bad as being at 2.0 or whatever, but it’s still not great to be above an Rt of 1.0. Basically, what we need to do is stay disciplined, keep up social distancing, wear our masks, wash our hands, etc. In other words, do the *exact opposite* of Amanda “I don’t do COVID anymore” Chase.
