So, at this point (12/23), in Virginia we’re at 319,133 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 17,271 hospitalizations and 4,760 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 4,652 (+1.5%) in the latest statistics, which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 3,591 (+1.2%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 188 (+1.1%), which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 135 (+0.8%). Deaths are reported +55, compared to +51 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 4,029,903 (up 36,671 from yesterday).
