“I support equal rights not special rights you know. Senator [Jennifer] McClellan she is the vice chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus and I’m all for diversity but we cannot continue… And I said she will not be a governor that supports everyone. Listen we need to stop looking and discriminating against people because of the color of their skin. That’s just wrong. We need to celebrate diversity but we need to be inclusive.”
In the following video, Sen. Jennifer Mcclellan responds:
“These are the same tired dog whistles that we have heard time and time again throughout the South, and Virginians are tired of it. I am a proud servant leader who has served my community in the legislature for 16 years, in my community for 30. And I’m going to keep doing that.“
Excellent response by Sen. McClellan; now we just need the Republican Party to completely renounce racism, while shunning anyone in their party who says or does racist things. But sad to say, there’s no sign of that in the current Republican Party, whether in Virginia or nationally. If anything, it’s been moving in the opposite direction, certainly with white supremacist Donald Trump as the party’s leader…
