IN VA GOV CONTEST, FUND HER LAUNCHES STATEWIDE TV AD CAMPAIGN

In Backing Jennifer McClellan for Governor, Women’s Org Fund Her Releases TV Ad “Make History” Focusing on Fact There’s Never Been Black Women Governor in VA, U.S.

RICHMOND, VA — Today, Fund Her, a progressive women’s organization launched a statewide television and digital ad buy in the Virginia Governor’s race to support their endorsed candidate, Jennifer McClellan. Titled “Make History,” Fund Her’s ad will air on cable television in nearly every media market across Virginia. The ad will have a five figure buy behind it and will air on BET and Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in an effort to communicate with Black voters across Virginia.

Upon releasing the ad, Val McGinty, Fund Her’s Founder and President, released the following statement:

“It’s unfathomable that in 2021 – from Virginia to any other state in the U.S. – there has never been a Black woman to serve as Governor. Ever. We are proudly endorsing Jennifer McClellan for Governor because she not only represents change – but also because her experience, background and record is unrivaled and unmatched in this race. Bringing the perspective as a mother, State Senator and as a Democratic National Committee Member for the Virginia Democratic Party, Jennifer has been a champion for women and people across Virginia – leading on women’s rights, voting rights, healthcare access, criminal justice reform and so much more.  For these reasons and many more, we’re excited to launch this ad across the state to communicate with voters about why we believe that Jennifer McClennan is the best choice to serve the people of Virginia.”

Notably in 2019, Fund Her made waves with their ad “Chasing Chase” through their efforts to help play a role in flipping the Virginia State Senate red-to-blue by electing Ghazala Hashmi to the State Senate.
