See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (8/2) in Virginia we’re at 697,939 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 31,423 hospitalizations and 11,534 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases was +3,555 (+0.51%) in the latest statistics over the weekend, compared to +1,178 (+0.17%) on Friday [NOTE: VDH isn’t updating on the weekends anymore, for whatever reasons…frustrating for keeping an accurate count of the statistics, and also premature given that the pandemic isn’t over!]. As for hospitalizations, they went up 87 (+0.28%) over the weekend, compared to +70 (+0.22%) on Friday. Deaths are reported +2 over the weekend, compared to +7 on Friday. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 8,012,421 (up 38,720 over the weekend).
