Video: Virginia General Assembly Convenes for Special Session to Allocate American Rescue Plan Funds, Elect Judges to Court of Appeals

The Virginia General Assembly’s August 2021 special session has begun. This session will consider how to allocate American Rescue Plan funds, as well as to elect judges to the Court of Appeals. See below for video and updates.

After an absurd speech by Del. Bobby Orrock (R), charging that Democrats were acting autocratically by supposedly shutting out Republicans from the budget process, House Appropriations Committee Chair Del. Luke Torian (D) fires back…says that for YEARS Republicans controlled the House of Delegates and Democrats had “limited input” into the budget process. Del. Torian added that his door “has always been open,” that Republicans “could have called, could have texted…could have emailed…the letdown is not from the majority party, the letdown is from [Rs’] own leadership.”
