Youngkin’s Opposition to Vaccine Requirements and CDC Recommendations for Schools Puts Virginia Families & Economy at Risk

MCLEAN, VA – Terry for Virginia released a new TV ad “Doctor” featuring Dr. Joseph Sakran, a Trauma Critical Care Surgeon from Fairfax, Virginia calling out Glenn Youngkin’s dangerous COVID-19 agenda. The ad highlights Glenn Youngkin’s Trumpian opposition to COVID-19 safety measures that keep Virginians healthy and the Commonwealth’s economy strong. Glenn Youngkin opposes vaccine requirements for health care workers and teachers and has rejected CDC recommendations to keep children safe in schools.
Earlier this week, Virginia doctors penned a letter to Glenn Youngkin stating that he was undermining COVID-19 safety measures by peddling anti-vaxx rhetoric. Following this, Terry proposed a new plan to tackle the COVID-19 crisis, keep schools open and safe and expand access to child care and out-of-school activities. Terry McAuliffe knows that in order to keep Virginia’s economy strong, schools open, and communities safe, every eligible Virginian must be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Glenn Youngkin, however, vehemently opposes COVID safety measures that the majority of Virginians support. Much like Donald Trump, Youngkin has pandered to his far-right base by encouraging Virginians to fill out “exception” forms for non-medical, non-religious exceptions to vaccine mandates. Glenn Youngkin’s refusal to follow doctors and scientists is reckless and dangerous for Virginia.

Dr. Joseph Sakran: We’ve all seen how COVID has hurt our communities and it’s so important that we have leaders who will follow the science.
Dr. Joseph Sakran: But just like Donald Trump, Glenn Youngkin won’t listen to doctors and scientists.
Dr. Joseph Sakran: Glenn Youngkin opposes requiring health care workers to be vaccinated and he’s against requiring masks in schools.
Dr. Joseph Sakran: Even though the science has made clear that’s how we prevent outbreaks in schools and overcrowding in hospitals.
Dr. Joseph Sakran: Glenn Youngkin’s ideas are dangerous for Virginia.
