From the McAuliffe for Governor campaign:
NEW: PolitiFact Blasts Glenn Youngkin with “Pants on Fire” for Unhinged Right Wing Conspiracy Theories
Richmond, VA –– Five-time Trump-endorsed Glenn Youngkin has taken yet another page out of Donald Trump’s conspiracy theory playbook, spinning a baseless fabrication about Terry McAuliffe. To make matters worse, he’s added this ridiculous theory to his Trumpian stump speech!
PolitiFact called out Youngkin’s desperate attack on Tuesday, calling it a “made-up claim … on a highly charged issue.” Youngkin’s rhetoric is not political pandering to Donald Trump and Glenn Youngkin’s base – it’s dangerous to Virginians and mirrors the anti-rule of law conspiracies that led up to the January 6th attacks on the U.S. Capitol.
But it doesn’t stop there. The Youngkin campaign’s desperate spin when caught lying? Highlighting Terry McAuliffe’s fight to make health care more affordable and accessible for Virginians.
See below for Youngkin’s “Pants on Fire” fact check.
PolitiFact VA: Youngkin’s claim that McAuliffe asked the FBI to go after Virginia parents is deliberately false…
…Our ruling
Youngkin says, “Terry (McAuliffe) calls in his friend Joe Biden to actually put the DOJ on Virginia parents.”
McAuliffe says he never contacted Biden or anyone in the White House to request FBI protection for educators facing increasing protest for school policies on health and social issues. Youngkin provides no proof to the contrary.
This is a made-up claim by Youngkin on a highly charged issue, and he’s said it at least three times. We rate Youngkin’s statement Pants on Fire!
