See below for the latest COVID-19 statistics for Virginia, courtesy of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA). As you can see, total cases hit 1,598,416, up 4,741 since the Wednesday morning report and up 52,780 over the past 10 days (waaaayyyy down from the 10-day average of 198,847 on 1/19); the Omicron wave definitely appears to be declining. As for hospitalizations, according to VDH, we’re now at a cumulative 47,208, up 25 from the Wednesday morning statistics (also, VHHA now has hospitalizations at 1,990…on a definite downward trajectory; the lowest level since the end of December). And deaths are at 17,393, up 88 from the Wednesday morning statistics (the trend in deaths seems to be lagging the decline in cases and hospitalizations).
