Virginians React to News of 300+ State Employees Resigning: “Despite our best efforts, Youngkin refused to reconsider his disastrous executive action and pressed forward”

This comes after a survey last month found VA government employees were “upset and disappointed” with Youngkin, saying that “trust Is eroding,” and urging him to back off/reverse his sudden policy change limiting telework.

See below for some reactions to this story by WRIC Richmond:

More than 300 employees from five state agencies have resigned since Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Virginia’s new telework policy in early May, according to records obtained by 8News.

This includes 183 Virginia Department of Transportation employees, 28 of whom cited “telework options” as the reason for leaving. Two VDOT workers who listed telework as the reason did move to another state agency, records obtained by 8News after filing a Freedom of Information Act request show.

This was, of course, predictable, given that a survey last month found Virginia government employees “upset and disappointed” with Youngkin, saying that “trust Is eroding,” and urging him to back off/reverse his sudden policy change limiting telework. Also see Members of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates Call on Gov. Youngkin to Reverse New Telework Policy from late May. In short, all of this was predictable and predicted, given Youngkin’s hostility, contempt and lack of respect for state government workers. Disgusting, but exactly what one would expect from a right-wingnut who made millions of dollars at a private equity firm and had ZERO interest or experience in running a government at any level…
